Luke Combs releases ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’

Single follows five consecutive country radio No 1’s

CMA and ACM Award-winning musician Luke Combs’ new single, “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” has made its world premiere at country radio. In celebration, Combs will perform the uptempo track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday, May 9th. It will impact radio on May 13th and is from his forthcoming sophomore album on Sony Music Nashville.

“When we wrote ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’ on the tour bus — actually my first headlining tour the Don’t Tempt Me with a Good Time Tour — I had my buddies Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana out on the bus with me and I had had this title on my phone for a long time and really wanted to save it for some guys that I thought would kinda understand and grasp what I was looking for out of the song,” Combs says of the new track. “I went to soundcheck and got back and they had been kinda hammering away on this thing. I got back and we buttoned it up and it’s just been a fan favorite ever since then and I’m really stoked it’s finally out and everybody gets to hear it.”

The release of “Beer Never Broke My Heart” continues a landmark year for Combs, who recently made history as the first artist to simultaneously top all five Billboard country charts for multiple weeks: Top Country Albums, Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales (dated March 9th, March 30th and April 6th). Additionally, Combs’ current 2x platinum single, “Beautiful Crazy,” spent seven-straight weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart — tying the second longest run atop the chart since its launch in 1990. “Beautiful Crazy” is Combs’ fastest rising single to date (15 weeks) and makes Combs the first artist ever to send his first five singles to the top of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. “Beautiful Crazy” is also the first country single shipped to radio already platinum-certified since Taylor Swift’s “Red” in 2013 and has more than 360 million on-demand streams.

Continuing his monumental year, Combs sold out venues in 25 of the 29 cities on his newly confirmed Beer Never Broke My Heart fall tour in the first weekend tickets were on-sale. He broke records at Bozeman’s Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Bloomington’s Grossinger Motors Arena and Bossier City’s CenturyLink Center for the fastest sell out times in venue history. Additional sold-out shows include Kansas City’s Spring Center, Portland’s Moda Center, Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center, Phoenix’s Talking Stick Resort Arena, Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena among several others. Special guests throughout the tour include Morgan Wallen, The Cadillac Three and Jameson Rodgers.

Since the release of his 2x platinum certified debut album, This One’s For You, on June 2, 2017, the album spent a total of 32 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart — the longest reign for a solo male artist in over 25 years. The album also spent 16 weeks at No. 1 in 2018 — making it the highest selling country album last year with 1.1 million equivalent album units sold and the only country album to surpass one million album units. It’s also the most-streamed country album of 2019 so far. Additionally, Combs was named New Male Artist of the Year at the 2019 ACM Awards, Country Artist of the Year at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards, New Artist of the Year at the 52nd Annual CMA Awards, was nominated for Best New Artist at the 61st GRAMMY Awards and was the recipient of a CMA Triple Play Award for writing three No. 1 songs in a 12 month period.
