Song is from Macy Gray and The California Jet Club’s debut album

Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray, who captured the hearts of fans around the world for decades with her distinct, universally appealing soulful voice and unique style recently released her first album with her band the California Jet Club. The Reset combines the coolness of jazz, the raw sexiness of R&B, the heart of soul, and the across-the-board popularity of AC. The group releases “Reset,” available now.

The footage for “Mercy” is from Macy Gray and the California Jet Club’s first live performance of the full album, which was done for a virtual show in 2021. The song features the artist Citizen Cope and is simply a nod to how love and sex can sometimes be too good to the point you need “mercy.”

Macy Gray and The California Jet Club consists of Tamir Barzilay on drums, Billy Wes on keys, Alex Kyhn on bass and Macy Gray on vocals. All had toured with Macy in the past and they spoke about doing a band project – which came to fruition in July of 2020 during COVID. The album was produced by Tommy Parker (J. Cole, Ariana Grande) and is lyrically inspired by the social, economical and political events of that year.

The Reset, whose title comes from the idea that maybe we should reset, renovate our country, ourselves – let go of old ideals and ways, is an album which is both thought provoking and moving with poignant, powerful lyrics delivered with Macy’s signature cool vibe, featuring standout songs such as a Cop Killer remake and the original Every Night which has uplifting dance vibes featuring rapper Maino. With messages of hope, love, and change, Macy Gray and the California Jet Club deliver the Reset.
