Marc Anthony livestream crashes the internet

Anthony offers free version of recorded concert

Marc Anthony’s impact as a global music icon crosses borders, genres, and generations, and on Saturday night (April 17th), crashed the internet. His One Night Only global livestream event was forced to be postponed after an overwhelming demand crashed Maestro, the livestream host which also hosted 2020 shows by Billie Eilish and Tim McGraw.

“First of all, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the unprecedented amount of fans from all over the world that tried to log into watch my concert tonight and were not able to join due to the overwhelming demand that caused a complete collapse of the streaming platform,” he shares on social media in both English and Spanish. “I am deeply sorry for this technology failure that unfortunately was out of our control. You can rest assured that I am doing everything in my power to make sure that the people that spent their hard-earned money have the opportunity to see the show as soon as possible and will make it right for you all.”

It’s estimated 100k tickets were purchased for the livestream, although official numbers have not been released. Anthony was trending on Twitter during the time as fans took to the platform to air their frustrations.

As Anthony promised to “make it right,” the Latin star decided to offer refunds for all who purchased, and present a recorded version of the show on his YouTube channel for free instead.

“I have demanded that the promoter of the show provide full refunds to all ticket buyers and that they begin that process today. I also want to tell you that since I promised you a concert, I am giving you one: the recorded version of the entire show that you were not able to watch last night will be presented totally free (Gratis!) on my YouTube channel,” he shares on Sunday. “A lot of love went into this project and it was done for you. I hope you and your loved ones enjoy it!”

The concert premieres Sunday, April 18th at 5 pm ET/2 pm PT and will be available for 24 hours. Daddy Yankee makes a guest appearance.
