Song is title track from latest album

Sony Music Nashville execs surprised Maren Morris with an RIAA platinum certification plaque for her No. 1 hit “Girl” backstage following her performance at Miranda Lambert’s Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars tour stop at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Friday, Oct 4th.

This platinum hit was the lead single from Maren Morris’ sophomore album Girl which debuted No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in March and broke the record for the largest streaming week ever for a studio country album by a woman. Morris is the most-nominated artist with six for the 2019 CMA Awards airing on ABC on November 13th.

The news comes as Morris teams with Hozier for a remake of “The Bones,” a Top 15 track she originally released solo earlier this year. Morris co-wrote the gold-certified hit – which has amassed more than 126 million on-demand streams – with Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz.

Besides touring with Lambert, Morris is currently headlining her GIRL: The World Tour.
