Pop star will perform epic holiday hits

Mariah Carey will kick her favorite season into high gear with a two hour television Christmas concert special. CBS will air Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To You All! on Tuesday, December 20th from 8-10 pm ET/PT and live stream and on demand on Paramount+. Filmed in New York City at the world-renowned Madison Square Garden arena, the concert special will feature the singer-songwriter performing a repertoire of her festive holiday hits, including the chart-topping massive perennial favorite “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

As part of a Paramount Global cross-company collaboration, MTV will offer additional opportunities to view the special after the CBS broadcast. Further information will follow in the coming weeks.

Carey will perform four limited engagement Merry Christmas To All! shows this holiday season. Due to overwhelming demand, the initial two-night stand has been expanded to four with two concerts at Toronto’s Scoiabank Arena on December 9th and 11th and two at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on December 13th and 16th.

Last holiday season, Carey’s 1994 smash “All I Want For Christmas Is You” made an unprecedented return to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. Twenty-five years after its release, Carey’s song marked her 19th ascent to the top on the Billboard charts and became the only track to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in three separate runs: 2019, 2020 and 2021.

The song was first released on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in 1994 and, as streaming has grown and holiday music has become more prominent on streaming services’ seasonal playlists, it hit the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time in December 2017, before ascending to No. 1 in both December 2019 for three weeks and December 2020 for two.

As of 2021, the song has spent a total of 13th weeks at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart. It also led the multi-metric Holiday 100 chart for a 49th week, of the chart’s 54 total weeks since the list launched in 2011. It has topped the tally for 34 consecutive weeks, dating to the start of the 2015-16 holiday season, and dominates as the top title on the recently-revealed Greatest of All Time Holiday 100 Songs chart.

Since its release, the song has upped its US totals to 4.3 billion in radio audience, 1.4 billion streams and 3.7 million in download sales.
