Meat Loaf collapses on stage

The iconic singer dropped his microphone towards the end of a show

Meat Loaf collapsed Thursday night (June 16th) near the end of his concert at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Canada. While the cause of his illness was not known at the time his publicist confirms it was due to severe dehydration.

“He was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests. His vital signs are stable and normal — he’s responsive and recovering well,” his publicist states.

“He extends his heartfelt thanks for everyone’s support and well wishes, and is expecting a speedy and full recovery.

Any concert postponements/rescheduled dates will be announced at a later time.

Thank you for your support and understanding.”

Video of the incident shows the singer dropping his microphone and falling to the floor. Members of his band put down their instruments and rushed to his aid. Concertgoers were asked to vacate the facility while Meat Loaf, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, was rushed to nearby Alberta Health Services.

Meat Loaf had canceled two other concerts recently due to ill health, however, no other details have been revealed regarding these dates.
