The multi-talented performer will releaseย Dying Art this summer
Singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress Meg Donnelly announces her highly-anticipated EP, Dying Art, will arrive on June 20th via Range Music.
Donnelly has released a new single off the record, โDancin’ Around,โ showing her more playful side, serving as a euphoric reflection on femininity, spiked with glittering synth. The production of the song was inspired by Americaโs โYou Can Do Magicโ and Megโs love for the groovy, soulful and fun โyacht rockโ genre.
“‘Dancinโ Around’ is my yacht rock-filled fantasy!” she claims. “I had the most fun making this record. The concept is all about dancing around feelings – being in a summer fling thatโs maybe getting a little too seriousโฆ where you know that if either of you says it out loud, itโll suddenly feel all too real. Itโs definitely something I relate to, especially after experiencing a summer fling in the heat of New Orleans – a funky, eccentric city full of music and dancing. Itโs super relatable, made for singing at the top of your lungs and dancing your heart out.”
Tonight (Wed, May 7th), Donnelly was revealed as one of the three finalists on Foxโs hit competition series The Masked Singer. From wowing the judges with her vocal control on classic hits like โMad Worldโ by Tears for Fears to turning up the energy on fan-favorite rock songs like Paramoreโs “Ain’t It Funโ and Avril Lavigneโs โSk8ter Boi,โ Meg proved her unstoppable range as an artist under the disguise of her character Coral.
Dying Art is a wildly fun, deeply personal portrait of finding your way in a fast-changing world. To further explore the EPโs thematic principle, Meg releases a series of audition tapes and confessionals chronicling a journey of auditioning several versions of herself throughout her early 20s. Blending satire and parody with absurdist comedic elements, the dying art Audition Tapes offer a playful yet sharp take on the grueling process Meg endured to break into the industry.
Meg can also be seen starring in the forthcoming Disney film Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, the latest installment of the music-fueled, smash-hit Zombies franchise. The official teaser reunites Meg with co-star Milo Manheim as beloved zombie-cheerleader power couple Zed and Addison. The Disney Channel Original Movie will premiere Thursday, July 10th at 7 pm ET/PT on Disney Channel and stream globally the next day, Friday, July 11th, on Disney+.
The news follows Megโs latest releases off the EP, the dance-pop single โClose 2 Me,โ – crafted alongside Grammy-nominated visionary Jon Bellion, who co-wrote and produced the record with Tenroc (Reneรฉ Rapp, Jon Batiste, Jonas Brothers) – โPicky,โ and TikTok-viral track โIn My Bag.โ
Earlier this year, Meg had an eventful New York Fashion Week, attending Kim Shui and Collina Strada shows among various branded events. Widely celebrated for her standout performances in Disneyโs Zombies film series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and The Winchesters, Meg joined the Range Music roster last October, marking an exciting new chapter in her multifaceted career.
