Melanie Martinez announces ‘Portals’ deluxe box set, board game

The new version will be released this spring

Alt pop singer/songwriter Melanie Martinez is celebrating the second anniversary of her Portals album with a deluxe vinyl box set and board game. The set features the first pressing of the deluxe album on vinyl and offers new, never before seen artwork.

The vinyl is pressed on a milky-clear double LP featuring a gatefold with alternate album artwork and printed inner sleeves. The set is housed in the box is a 20-page lyric booklet with new artwork complementing the printed lyrics for the full deluxe album. The interior gatefold image opens up to reveal the game board for the first ever release of Portals the Game, which was specifically designed by Martinez.

Fans who purchase the set through her online store will receive an exclusive 12 by 12 Portals art card and extra original game scoring sheets.

The objective of the game is to collect the most soul points by gaining knowledge and experiences in each stage of the afterlife. The player with the most soul points standing in the womb space of the game is declared the winner. The game can be played by up to four players.

Game pieces include a six-sided custom die, game board, rulebook, two sets of score sheets, four game tokens, and 36 “Karma, “Reincarnation,” “Regression,” and “Soulmate” game cards.

The set is expected to ship around March 21st and retails for $124.98.

Portals was released in March 2023, marking her highest charting album with the Billboard 200 No. 2 debut. Portals marked Martinez’s third consecutive Billboard 200 Top 10 album debut, following Cry Baby at No. 6 and K-12 at No. 3. Upon its release, Portals was a global success, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Current Alternative Albums, Current Pop Albums, Top Album Sales, Current Album Sales, Internet Albums, Digital Albums, and Top Alternative/Rock Albums charts, along with a No. 2 debut on the Top Vinyl Albums chart. International first week highlights include Martinez’s first No. 1 album debut in Australia, No. 1 in New Zealand, No. 2 in the UK, No. 3 in Canada, No. 3 in Ireland, and top 10 chart placements in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain.
