This is the band’s fourth performance at the awards ceremony

Metallica has “something very unique and special planned” for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards on February 12th. The band has been invited to perform for the first time in three years. They last performed “One” with world-renowned Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang in 2014.

Metallica is nominated for Best Rock Song for “Hardwired” from their newly released Hardwired… To Self Destruct album. They are up against David Bowie, Radiohead, Twenty One Pilots and Highly Suspect in the category. Top nominees for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards include Beyoncé with nine, Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West with eight apiece and Chance The Rapper with seven.

James Corden hosts the GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 12th live from Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8-11:30 pm ET/5-8:30 pm PT live on both coasts.
