Metallica, Katy Perry among 56th Annual Grammy Awards performers

Metallica, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Stevie Wonder are among the latest performers announced for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday, January 26th on CBS from 8-11:30 pm ET/PT.

Eight time Grammy-winning group Metallica, whose Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture) is nominated for Best Recording Package, will be performing on the Grammy stage for the first time in 23 years for a special performance with Grammy Cultural Ambassador China Lang Lang. Metallica’s last performance was at the 33rd Annual Grammy Awards in 1991 while Lang Lang last performed at the 50th Grammys in 2008.

Katy Perry, who has two nominations for Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Roar,” will also be performing.

Lorde, who has four nods for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Royals” and Best Pop Vocal Album for Pure Heroine, will be making her debut as a performer on the Grammy stage.

Pharrell Williams’ make his first Grammy performance since the 46th Grammys in 2004. Three-time Grammy winner has seven nominations: two in Record Of The Year and two in Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Get Lucky” (with Daft Punk) and “Blurred Lines” (with Robin Thicke and T.I.); two in Album Of Year as a featured artist on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories and as a producer on Kendrick Lamar’s Good KidM.A.A.D City; and one for Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical.

Twenty-five time Grammy winner Stevie Wonder will also join a previously announced performance by nominees Daft Punk while Robin Thicke, who is nominated for three awards: Record Of The Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Blurred Lines” (with Pharrell Williams and T.I.), and Best Pop Vocal Album for Blurred Lines performs with Grammy-winning group Chicago. Chicago will be performing on the Grammy stage for the first time, and their album The Chicago Transit Authority was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame this year. Also performing with Daft Punk are the RAM (Random Access Memories) session players featuring Chris Caswell, Nathan East, Omar Hakim, and Paul Jackson Jr.

They join previously announced performances by nominees Kendrick Lamar joined by Imagine Dragons; P!nk and Nate Ruess (of FUN.); as well as a special performance featuring Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, and current nominee Blake Shelton. Two-time Grammy winner LL Cool J returns as host of Music’s Biggest Night.

The Recording Academy also announced that four-time Grammy-winning R&B group Boyz II Men, Grammy winner Ciara and DJ Michelle Pesce will perform at the exclusive 2014 Grammy Celebration official after party. Additionally, the Celebration’s MasterCard Jazz Lounge will feature performances by contemporary swing revival band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and members of the Grammy Camp— Jazz Session. The Roaring ’20s, the boisterous and exuberant decade proclaiming social liberation, will serve as this year’s theme for the all-star Grammy Celebration where guests will dance, party and continue to celebrate Music’s Biggest Night. One of the year’s most anticipated events attracting Grammy winners, nominees and celebrities, the 2014 Grammy Celebration will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 26th immediately following the 56th Annual Grammy Awards telecast.
