Metallica reissues ‘Some Kind Of Monster’; ‘Lords Of Summer’ vinyl

Metallica is celebrating the ten year anniversary of its documentary film Some Kind of Monster by re-releasing it on November 24th.

The film will be made digitally for the very first time and will also make its debut on Blu-ray. A new two disc DVD will also accompany the two disc Blu-ray and digital copies featuring bonus footage not available on the original DVD only release in 2005.

Newly featured is “Metallica: This Monster Lives,” a 25-minute follow-up piece filmed at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013 during the release of the band’s second film, Metallica Through the Never. The documentary includes interview footage with the band along with directors Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky and looks at the decade since the original release of the film.

All previous bonus features from the original DVD release will also be included.

Also, in honor of Record Store Day’s (RSD) Black Friday celebration, the band will debut “Lords Of Summer (First Pass Version)” on vinyl on November 28th.

The limited edition 12″ vinyl will include the “First Pass” (studio) version on Side A as well as a live version recorded at the Rock In Rome Sonisphere Festival on July 1, 2014. Side B will feature a laser etching of the band’s “M” logo which cannot be played on your turntable.
