Metallica releases ‘Lords Of Summer (First Pass Version)’ to iTunes

In March, Metallica released a Garage Demo studio version of the new single “Lords Of Summer” as part of their “Metallica By Request” Bogota, Colombia set from Now the band has released a studio version, dubbed “Lords Of Summer (First Pass Version)” to iTunes in celebration of summer.

The track is available immediately to download for $1.29 and in true Metallica fashion, this version has some “minor differences” from the version that was streamed on YouTube and the Garage Demo Version.

“It’s still a work in progress,” Metallica writes, “but we wanted to share it with you as it stands today… it most probably will change again!”

Metallica debuted “Lords” during their first “Metallica By Request” show in Bogota, Colombia and they have been performing it as the sole new song on their tour of South America and on the first leg of the European tour.

“Lords” is the first official new music from the band in five and a half years besides their Beyond Magentic EP from 2012 that included outtakes from the Death Magnetic album. It’s assumed the track will appear on the band’s next album, slated for 2015.

Metallica will most likely perform “Lords” when they headline the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival next Saturday night (June 28th).
