Metallica to play concert in Antarctica

The concert is sponsored by Coca Cola Columbia

It looks like Metallica are set to be the first band to ever play Earth’s Southernmost continent, Antarctica. According to Coca Cola’s Columbia website, the soft drink company is giving away two tickets to the event set between December 2nd and December 15th. However, the contest only open to residents of Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, Villavicencio, Bucaramanga and Cúcuta, who are ages 18-24, through November 19th.

Coke Zero is giving away travel accommodations and a pair of tickets for one lucky winner and a guest. Eight Gibson electric guitars, amps and 150 pair of Sony headphones will also be given away during the promotion.

To enter, contestants must purchase at least three bottles of 250 ml Coke Zero and fill out the form on the inner label that includes full name, identification number, age, telephone number and city.

Lars Ulrich stated to a San Francisco radio station earlier this month, “There’s a very interesting thing coming our way in December … There’s another frontier heading in Metallica’s direction in December.”

What that is, the drummer wouldn’t say because if the band’s management heard about the leak “they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we’re very excited about.”

We expect an official announcement from the band to be announced soon.
