Miley Cyrus wrecks the record with ‘Wrecking Ball’ video

VEVO, the world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform, has announced on Tuesday (Sept 10th) that global superstar Miley Cyrus’s new single video “Wrecking Ball” delivered over 19.3 million views across VEVO in the 24 hours following its premiere setting a new record. Cyrus reclaims the crown after “Wrecking Ball” surpassed the previous record holder, One Direction’s “Best Song Ever,” which hit 12.3 million views across VEVO in the first 24 hours after premiering in July. Cyrus’ music video “We Can’t Stop” previously set this record.

Miley Cyrus premiered the music video for her new single “Wrecking Ball” across VEVO on Monday (Sept 9th). The video was directed by Terry Richardson and shot in Los Angeles and features Cyrus completely nude while swinging on a wrecking ball and licking a sledge hammer. “Wrecking Ball,” the second single from Bangerz, already hit the #1 spot at on the iTunes Top Songs Chart.

Miley Cyrus will release her new album Bangerz on October 8th which will include thirteen new tracks. Cyrus released the standard track listing for Bangerz to her fans on Monday after solidifying the VEVO record. See track listing below. Collaborating with renowned producers and songwriters such as Mike Will, Pharrell, Future, and, this album marks a creative evolution for Miley. Bangerz is currently available for pre-order below. Those who pre-order Bangerz at iTunes will get an instant track of “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop”.

The first single “We Can’t Stop” was released on June 3rd and immediately shot to #1 on iTunes in the US and 23 other countries. The single has climbed to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has sold over 2 million tracks in the US alone. “We Can’t Stop” also became Cyrus’ first #1 single in the UK. In addition, the video for “We Can’t Stop” broke VEVO’s record for most views in a 24 hour period, and in only 37 days became the fastest video to reach 100 million views across VEVO.
