Morgan Wallen concert attendance records get ‘Dangerous’

Tour wrapped last weekend in Arlington TX

Morgan Wallen wrapped his Dangerous Tour over the weekend with record breaking numbers. The 55 date trek broke records in 30 venues across the country during its eight-month-long run, including the trek’s final show at Globe Life Field where it now holds the record for the fastest sellout and highest attended event in the venue’s storied history.

Wallen broke the Globe Life Field records that were once held by Elton John, Lady Gaga, and this year’s The Stadium Tour featuring Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett. The Stadium Tour sold 36 thousand tickets at the time of the public on sale, according to Music Mayhem Magazine, while Morgan’s show nearly sold out all 37 thousand during its presale in March.

The tour’s high demand also led Wallen to sell out 11 of the venues faster than any other act, while simultaneously breaking attendance records with stops at XFINITY Theatre, AmericanBank Center and Darien Lake Amphitheater, among others.

Upon going on sale in December 2021, Wallen sold out 48 of the 55 dates with more than 705k tickets sold at the time. Due to unprecedented demand, Wallen added more dates at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Orange Beach, AL’s The Wharf Amphitheater, Atlanta’s Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood, and LA’s Crypto.com Arena.

He has now become only the third artist in history to sell out Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena three times in a year.

While individual attendance numbers were not revealed, the final show brings the attendance tally to 839,704 tickets sold its entirety. Hardy was main support with Larry Fleet on select dates. Ernest filled in for Hardy last weekend after the latter’s tour bus was involved in an accident the week prior that led to all on board being seriously injured.

Off stage, Wallen’s foundation and Greater Good Music were also making an impact. Before taking the stage at select stops, including Arlington, Morgan and Greater Good Music, in service with local area food banks, worked swiftly to deliver over 500,000 meals total to help combat food insecurity and aid in relief following natural disasters in the US.

The tour is named after his critically acclaimed and newly 2X Platinum Dangerous: The Double Album via Big Loud/Republic Records. The album has logged 86 weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard’s 200 Albums chart since its release in February 2021, despite spending about half of last year being blacklisted by the industry after TMZ published a video of him using a racial slur. Morgan has beaten Peter, Paul and Mary’s 58 year record for the longest Top 10 run for an album by a single artist.

He returned to the road in October 2021 with four sold out shows. He followed with a sold out a three-night December appearance at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY, which tied a record with Garth Brooks after more than 36 thousand tickets were sold in less than 90 minutes. Last November, he also hosted a crowd of 31 thousand in Mobile, AL.
