The country star appeared in Davidson County Court
Morgan Wallen has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges in his chair-throwing incident in Nashville earlier this year. The country star was taken into custody on April 7th after being accused of throwing a chair off the sixth story of Eric Church’s Chief’s on Broadway, which allegedly landed a few feet away from police officers standing in front of the complex.
Wallen appeared in front of Judge Cynthia Chappell in Davidson County Court on Thursday (Dec 12th) where he pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, which were reduced from three Class E felonies for reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and one misdemeanor of disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to two years of probation and seven days in a DUI education center.
“Earlier today, Morgan Wallen appeared in Davidson County Circuit Court with Judge Cynthia Chappell presiding, where he entered a conditional plea pursuant to Tennessee’s Diversion Statute that does not result in a conviction. The plea agreement with the Office of the District Attorney requires Mr. Wallen to spend seven days at a DUI education center, be on probation for two years — one year for each of the misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment— pay a $350 fine and court fees. Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement,” Wallen’s attorney Worrick Robinson shared after the hearing.. “Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communicating and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation.”
Thursday’s appearance was the first time Wallen appeared in court for the April incident. He was dressed in a black shirt and pants with a grey jacket. He kept his statements to a simple “Yes, ma’am” and “No, ma’am,” when answering the judge’s questions.
Court TV carried the sentencing, which can be viewed below.
Two weeks ago, Wallen was crowned Entertainer of the Year at the 58th Annual CMA Awards.
In October, Wallen concluded his two-year One Night at a Time Tour with several commemorative records including the highest-grossing country music tour of all time. The country star performed to 3.1 million fans in 87 shows across ten countries and three continents.

Wallen’s three-night stint at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium in May broke the country’s three-night attendance record with 153,145 tickets distributed.
Internationally, Wallen became the first artist to sell out three nights at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Ontario, in 2023. On his first-ever headlining European tour in 2024, Wallen’s seven-show run included sold-out stops in Oslo, Amsterdam, Glasgow, and two consecutive nights in Dublin, Ireland.
