Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard ‘weighing all options’ about Stadium Tour

Trek will be biggest rock tour of 2020

The Stadium Tour featuring Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe with Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be the biggest rock tour of 2020 if all goes as planned. However, the fate of the trek is up in the air due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, but the groups state they are working hard in hopes of sharing a decision by June 1st.

“We wanted to reach out to all of our amazing fans and let you know that we’ve been hard at work preparing an amazing show,” they share in a joint statement. “Our priority during this unprecedented time is to make sure that we are being as thoughtful and responsible as possible in the decisions we are making regarding The Stadium Tour and that we are putting the fans’ health, well being and safety first and foremost. We are currently weighing all options and are awaiting further direction from the powers that be. Our goal is to have an official update to everyone by June 1 outlining exactly how we will proceed. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy. We can’t wait to see you all again.”

The tour consists of 31 shows after adding multiple dates due to high demand. It has already sold out 25 stadiums in the US while amassing over one million tickets sold to eager fans. It’s slated to kick off June 18th at TIAA Bank Field Jacksonville, FL.

Over the past couple of weeks, fans have taunted members of Mötley Crüe about canceling the trek on social media. The band has stated the decision is out of their hands.

Last month, Billboard published an interview with Crüe drummer Tommy Lee where he stated the trek was still a go.

“Everything’s still a go,” Lee says. “We’re all in constant communication. [Bassist] Nikki [Sixx] and I have been in several production meetings. You’re talking multiple stadiums, so it’s like two kids in a candy store putting together something people are going to walk [away from] saying, ‘Are you fucking kidding me?!’ That’s our mission right now, and it’s definitely headed in that direction.”

More details as they become available.
