NBC concert for OK tornado relief raises $6 million and counting…

Organizers of Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert that aired on NBC and its cable channel counterparts say that as of Thursday (May 30th), they raised more than $6 million in pledges and ticket sales to help people in Oklahoma trying to recover after a deadly EF5 tornado ripped the town of Moore, OK apart on May 20th. Oklahoma native Blake Shelton hosted and organized the one hour live concert from Oklahoma City Wednesday night (May 29th).

Several country music stars with Oklahoma ties performed during the event including Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts and Ryan Tedder of One Republic. Other performers included Usher, Darius Rucker and Luke Bryan.

Donations are still be accepted to The United Way. There are three ways you can donate:

By donating through text, a one-time donation of $10 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance.

There are also multiple eBay auctions that run through June 3rd that benefit the tornado victims. Many auctions feature VIP & Meet and Greet concert packages by some of music’s biggest stars including Shelton, McEntire, Gill, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Toby Mac, Kelly Clarkson, John Mayer and more. Other auctions feature signed guitars, hats and photos by Lambert, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney and more. NASCAR and CMA Awards VIP packages are also up for auction.

The money goes directly to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund that will distribute funding to agencies helping those affected by the May 20th tornado.
