NBC developing mini series about The Beatles

The series is part of the network’s event programming

NBC is in the early stages of developing an eight episode mini series on The Beatles.

Deadline reports that the series would “tell the story of the greatest band of all time” and is part of the network’s push toward event programming that includes live productions such as last year’s The Sound Of Music starring Carrie Underwood, mini series like Rosemary’s Baby and limited series A.D., the 12 part follow-up to The Bible.

The report states the series will be written by The Tudors creator/executive producer Michael Hirst who will also server as executive producer alongside Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg who also served as exec producers on The Tudors.

No word on when the project is expected to begin filming or air.
