The rocker has decided to play the festival again after an “error in the information” he received
Neil Young has recanted his statements towards Glastonbury being under “corporate control” and will now play the 2025 festival. The rocker shared the news via his newspaper-esque website on Friday (Jan 3rd), stating he and his band The Chrome Hearts will return to the famed UK festival later this year.
“Due to an error in information received, I had decided not to play the Glastonbury festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there!” he writes.
Yesterday (Thurs, Jan 2nd), the 79-year-old Canadian rocker stated, “We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being. We will not be playing Glastonbury on this tour because it is a corporate turn-off, and not for me like it used to be.” That message has been replaced with the one above.
As of press time, Rod Stewart is the only other Glastonbury 2025 performer announced. The annual event takes place June 25-29.
Next month, Young will release Oceanside Countryside, the latest “lost” album as part of his Analog Original Series (AOS). The album was recorded from May to December 1977, preceding the release of Comes A Time in 1978. The two albums share the same country/folk sound, and three songs (“Goin’ Back,” “Human Highway” and “Field of Opportunity”) appear on both albums.
