Notable Releases: Notes of Interest – Scott Weiland, Rainbow, Simple Minds & more

A first look at some upcoming music releases

The album release schedule is starting to become very busy. More spring and summer album release dates are getting announced including a new album by former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland and his band, The Wildabouts, along with Dwight Yoakam and reissues from Simple Minds and Rainbow. Also an update on the Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet Blu-ray Pure Audio disc.

Mercury Records has delayed the Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet Blu-ray Pure Audio disc by a month. Originally set to be released on February 17th, the classic album upgrade is now set for March 17th with no reason given.

UMe/Polydor Records will reissue Rainbow’s entire catalog on vinyl on March 17th. Straight Between The Eyes, Long Live Rock ‘n Roll, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, Bent Out Of Shape, On Stage, Rising, Difficult To Cure and Down To Earth are set most likely for 180-gram vinyl.

On March 31st, Virgin/EMI will release a 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Simple Minds’ Sparkle In The Rain. The set will be available on 2 CDs and single LP.

Dwight Yoakam has announced that his new album, Second Hand Heart, will be released on April 14th. Album + t-shirt bundles are now available to pre-order via his website with the first 500 orders containing an autographed CD booklet.

Also on March 31st, Softdrive Records will release the new Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts Blaster on CD and vinyl.

Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Hall & Oates Live In Dublin on Blu-ray and DVD on March 31st.

Famed jazz drummer Steve Gadd releases 70 Strong on CD on April 7th.

Montgomery Gentry has their debut on Blaster Records, Folks Like Usset for April 21st.

Republic Nashville has Southernality from new country group, A Thousand Horses, set for June 9th.
