Oasis teases US tour dates with Times Square billboard

The band is expected to announce US dates

Oasis is teasing US tour dates with a billboard in Times Square. Liam and Noel Gallagher are featured on the large corner Amazon Music-sponsored billboard with the wording, “If we need to put up a billboard to get these guys to come to the States, here it is.”

The duo is expected to hit the States sometime next year after announcing a run of European and Ireland dates next summer. A proposed tour schedule of the US leaked last week, revealing dates throughout major cities in the US. Those performances are unconfirmed as of press time.

The Gallagher brothers will perform 17 shows in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Oasis initially announced 14 shows in the region but added three due to overwhelming demand. They also confirmed they will not perform at any festival, including Glastonbury, which was rumored.

Tickets went on sale over the weekend, with many fans frustrated after failing to secure any. Many complained about inflated prices, long wait times and error messages from the Ticketmaster links. Government officials in The UK are investigating the dynamic pricing practices, which saw prices inflate by hundreds of pounds, forcing them to resort to secondary ticketing sites which saw prices even more inflated.

The reunion news comes 15 years after they played their last gig at the V Festival in the UK in 2009. The brothers parted ways after they got into a physical altercation before a Paris concert, which saw Noel quit.

Oasis’ debut album Definitely Maybe celebrates its 30th anniversary this month. The fastest-ever selling debut in the UK on release, this seminal album marked the point when Oasis became a cultural phenomenon. Including the classic singles “Supersonic,” “Live Forever,” and “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” its songs sound as fresh and relevant as they did in 1994. Having sold over 6.9 million copies globally, it also sits as the second most streamed album of the ’90s, following their (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? at No. 1.

A limited edition deluxe 2 CD and 4 LP set will be available with the 2014 remastered album plus the previously unreleased and discarded original recording session from Monnow Valley along with outtakes from Sawmills Studios plus a demo of “Sad Song” featuring Liam’s vocal – all recently mixed for this release by Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho.
