Ocean’s Calling rocks the end of beach season with all-star three-day music festival

Ocean’s Calling delivered an end-of-summer beach blast over the weekend in Ocean City, MD.

Cage the Elephant and Blink-182 marked highlights from the rain-soaked first night of Ocean’s Calling. Blink performed a shortened, but energetic, set due to weather conditions. Surprisingly, “All the Small Things” lost the fan vote to “Dammit,” which closed the night.

On day two, the sun came out for a brief reprieve from the rain that had been pelting up and down the east coast in the wake of Helene’s landfall. It was the perfect day to explore all three stages of the Festival, backdropped by the glistening ocean on one end of the beach, and the famed Ocean City Boardwalk on the other.

The Offspring, The Killers, and The Beach Boys (sans John Stamos) were the marquee names for day two. The Beach Boys packed in a full 21-song set, while the Offspring kept the party going. Anyone who grew up with “Pretty Fly for a White Guy” on the mixtape in their dad’s truck knows exactly how fun the Offspring are. The Killers closed out night two with their magical pop-punk sounds. The beach was alive with tens of thousands of harmonies singing “Free Falling.”

On the final day, Sunday, Dave Matthews Band headlined with a two-hour set, the longest of the festival. Mt. Joy and Counting Crows also performed that evening.

Throughout the three-day event, major bands and artists including Barenaked Ladies, Lisa Loeb, and Sugar Ray performed shorter sets in the afternoon. Chefs Marc Murray, Amanda Freitag, and Robert Irvine also brought cooking demonstrations to the intimate Carousel stage, adding to the beachy vibes of the fest.
