Husband confirms death on social media
Olivia Newton-John has passed away at the age of 73. Her husband, John Easterling, confirms on social media that the actress and singer died peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning (Mon, Aug 8th). She was surrounded by family and friends.
No cause of death was revealed, but Newton-John had battled breast cancer for 30 years. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund.
Newton-John is survived by Easterling; daughter Chloe Lattanzi; sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.

The British-born Australian-raised singer was a 4x Grammy winner with five No. 1 hits and ten Top 10 singles. She also scored two Billboard 200 No. 1 albums with If You Love Me, Let Me Know in 1974 and Have You Never Been Mellow in 1975. In the US, she scored two Platinum singles, nine Gold singles, two Platinum albums, four 2x Platinum records and eight Gold albums. Her sales have topped more than 100 million worldwide.
In 1978, she starred in the musical Grease which includes duets with co-star John Travolta on “You’re The One That I Want” and “Summer Nights.” The soundtrack remains one of the best selling albums of all time with global sales of nearly 28 million. Newton-John’s solo hits include “I Honestly Love You,” “Physical” and “Hopeless Devoted To You,” among others.
