Creatively oppose proposed change to UK copyright law that would let AI companies to use music without a license
A wide scale movement is happening in the UK with more than 1,000 musicians releasing a silent album protesting proposed changes the local government is considering that would allow AI companies to train their models on artists’ works without a proper license.
Spearheaded by vocal advocate Ed Newton-Rex, featured on the project are recording artists, composers, conductors, singers and producers, many who have won esteemed Oscars, Grammy and BRIT Awards.
Is This What We Want co-writers include notable artists such as Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, Damon Albarn, Billy Ocean, Ed O’Brien, Dan Smith, The Clash, Mystery Jets, Jamiroquai, Imogen Heap, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Riz Ahmed, Tori Amos, Hans Zimmer, James MacMillan, Max Richter, John Rutter, The Kanneh-Masons, The King’s Singers, The Sixteen, Roderick Williams, Sarah Connolly, Nicky Spence and Ian Bostridge, among others.
