Album was released on Sept 9th
Ozzy Osbourne is set to release a three-part video series into the making of Patient Number 9. The first episode is set to premiere Friday, September 16th at 11 am ET and is entitled “When Ozzy Calls.”
The project, released September 9th via Epic Records, marks Osbourne’s first release since his critically acclaimed worldwide chart-topping album Ordinary Man in 2020. Produced by Andrew Watt marks Osbourne’s 13th solo studio album. It’s heavy, it’s hard-hitting, it’s historic — it’s everything you’d want from an Ozzy record and maybe more. Working with producer Watt for the second time, Ozzy welcomed a dynamic A-list featured guests. For the first time ever, Black Sabbath co-founder, guitarist, and riff-master Tony Iommi appears on an Ozzy solo album.
The record also boasts guitarists Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and longstanding righthand man and six-string beast Zakk Wylde who plays on the majority of the tracks. For the bulk of the album, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers held down drums, while the late Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters appears on three songs. Old friend and one-time Ozzy band member Robert Trujillo of Metallica plays bass on most of the album’s tracks, with Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Chris Chaney supplying bass on a few songs.
Last week, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy-winning singer and songwriter performed the halftime show for the Los Angeles Rams season opener at SoFi Stadium. Osbourne was joined by longtime band members Zakk Wylde and Tommy Clufetos, along with Jane’s Addiction’s Chris Chaney and album producer Andrew Watt for a medley of “Patient Number 9,” along with his legendary classic and popular sports anthem, “Crazy Train.” NBC only aired a short portion of the performance, so the Ozzman has obtained and released the entire performance digitally.
Osbourne celebrated the album’s release with a special in-store appearance and signing at Fingerprints in Long Beach, CA on Saturday, September 10th. Attendees who pre-ordered the album through Fingerprints were able to get their copy signed.
Last month, a 25-foot inflatable of Osbourne began trekking across the country in support of the album. The inflatable was designed by Todd McFarlane and made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con where the real Ozzy made an appearance. The month-long tour closed out in New York City the week of the album’s release with some stops being announced 24 hours in advance.
It was also announced last week that The Osbourne Family will return to television for Home To Roost. The 10-part 30 minute series will document Ozzy and Sharon’s journey back to Britain from the US, alongside Kelly and Jack’s efforts to support them, as they attempt to re-start their lives in rural Buckinghamshire. The show will air BBC One and iPlayer at a later date.
