Pearl Jam is releasing 186 live albums digitially for the first time

Nearly 200 live albums hit digital and streaming outlets

Pearl Jam is set to unleash its massive catalog of live albums digitally for the first time ever. On April 30th, the grunge rockers will issue 186 live shows spanning 2000-2014, including their 2008 Bonnaroo set and 2014 Live at Leeds performance.

The group’s October 22, 2000 show at Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Arena that celebrates its 10th anniversary of its first-ever live performance together is also included. The album features the band’s first performance of Mother Love Bone’s “Crown of Thorns.”

Most of these performances were released as separate 2 CD sets in cardboard sleeves after each leg of their respective tours with 25 European shows dropping first. Each show contains rarities, outtakes and covers not often performed.

The band made a groundbreaking decision to start professionally recording and releasing every show on their 2000 Binaural Tour to give fans a chance to own “official bootleg” copies of the shows they attended. The group released 72 double live albums to record stores in 2000 and 2001 after its contract with Epic Records wouldn’t allow the releases to be available as fan club exclusives.

The release of five European shows gave the band the record for most simultaneous debuts on the Billboard 200 chart, breaking Selena’s record of four.
