Shattuck departs after just a few months
The Pixies have parted ways with bassist Kim Shattuck, just a few months after their second female bassist joined.
Shattuck made the announcement via her Facebook and Twitter accounts on Friday.
“Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today,” she writes. “Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.”
Shattuck joined the band earlier this year after long time bassist Kim Deal left in the middle of recording the band’s latest EP, EP-1, due to Deal wanting to move on from touring to support the record.
The Pixies have not announced Shattuck’s departure, but are launching a massive North American tour on January 15th that runs through March 1st. Their first summer date was announced on Friday as part of the Field Day Festival in Europe on June 8th with more summer shows to be announced next week.
No word on who will be playing bass during the band’s upcoming tour.
