Planned Poison summer tour up in the air

The band has no new album plans in the future either

Fans hoping to see Poison on tour this summer may be disappointed. Drummer Rikki Rockett took to Twitter Thursday night to state that the planned tour is “not looking good.”

Frontman Bret Michaels has scattered tour dates scheduled throughout the summer with his Bret Michaels Band (BMB), but no confirmation as to which member Rockett is referencing.

Bassist Bobby Dall told Backstage Axxess in a rare interview at the Winter NAMM show in January 2014 that fans can expect to see Poison on the road nationally and internationally this summer.

“We’ll probably more than likely be going out this summer and playing 40, 60 shows around the amphitheaters and different venues across country.”

Dall confirmed other bands would be joining them on tour, but would not mention any names. However, it’s been rumored that Poison would tour with Kiss and Def Leppard this summer.

Dall was also asked if the band has any plans to release a follow up album to Hollyweird, their last full-length studio effort which was released in 2002.

“I’m sure one day we’ll get in there and make another studio album. But currently, right now, I’m not going to commit that there is one. I don’t want to lead you on.”

If the tour doesn’t happen, this would be the second summer in a row Poison has been absent from the road. Their last tour was with Def Leppard and Lita Ford in 2012. Their latest album, Poison’d, featuring eight newly recorded and five previously released cover songs, was released in 2007.

We have reached out to Rockett for further comment, but have yet to hear back.
