Fans wanting to visit the gravesite of Chris Cornell can do so Friday, May 26th after 3 pm at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. As we reported earlier this week, Cornell’s private funeral is set for Friday, May 26th at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. His body was cremated on Tuesday (May 23rd) with his brother Peter, wife Vicky and friends Linda Ramone and singer JD King standing by.

Variety reports that a larger public memorial was still undecided as of press time.

On May 17th, the Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman was found dead in his hotel room in Detroit following a Soundgarden performance at the Fox Theatre. The Wayne County Medical Examiner has determined Cornell’s cause of death to be “hanging by suicide.”

Cornell’s wife Vicky and her attorney Kirk Pasich question the suicide ruling stating, “Without the results of toxicology tests, we do not know what was going on with Chris—or if any substances contributed to his demise. Chris, a recovering addict, had a prescription for Ativan and may have taken more Ativan than recommended dosages. The family believes that if Chris took his life, he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions.”

Vicky states that the Ativan, which was prescribed for anxiety, may have contributed to his death. “When we spoke after the show, I noticed he was slurring his words; he was different. When he told me he may have taken an extra Ativan or two, I contacted security and asked that they check on him,” she states.

Cornell’s long time sound engineer and tour manager, Ted Keedick, tells TMZ that Cornell seemed “high and fucked up” from the start of the show, but not depressed. “Chris was out of character from note one of the show,” he says. “I’ve never heard or seen him that way before, at least if we did not cancel a show.”

“I’m broken, but I will stand up for you and I will take care of our beautiful babies.”

Hollywood Forever Cemetery is located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038. Other stars such as Johnny Ramone, Dee Dee Ramone, actress Estelle Geddy and hundreds of other Hollywood elite are buried in the cemetery.

On Wednesday (May 24th), Vicky penned a letter to her late husband, as published by Billboard.

“To My Sweet Christopher,

“You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love always showed through.

“You had always said I saved you, that you wouldn’t be alive if it were not for me. My heart gleamed to see you happy, living and motivated. Excited for life. Doing everything you could to give back. We had the time of our lives in the last decade and I’m sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night. I’m sorry you were alone, and I know that was not you, my sweet Christopher. Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace.

“I’m broken, but I will stand up for you and I will take care of our beautiful babies. I will think of you every minute of every day and I will fight for you. You were right when you said we are soulmates. It has been said that paths that have crossed will cross again, and I know that you will come find me, and I will be here waiting.

“I love you more than anyone has ever loved anyone in the history of loving and more than anyone ever will.

“Always and forever,
“Your Vicky”
