Quavo releases ‘Dope Boy Phone’ featuring Takeoff

The song is his third of the year

Grammy-nominated recording artist Quavo has officially released his latest single, โ€œDope Boy Phoneโ€ featuring Takeoff, via Quality Control Music/Motown Records.

The track marks Quavoโ€™s third release of the year, following โ€œTrappa Rappaโ€ and โ€œLegendsโ€ with fellow QC megastar Lil Baby. Featuring a posthumous verse from his late nephew Takeoff, โ€œDope Boy Phoneโ€ revives the unmistakable Unc & Phew connection. Quavoโ€™s iconic ad-libs punctuate the track, while Takeoffโ€™s verse highlights the vivid storytelling that helped shape Migos’ legacy. Trading sharp lines over a booming bass, bouncy percussion, and catchy melody, the duoโ€™s timeless synergy proves their music still stands the test of time.

Quavo rose to prominence as the frontman of the hip-hop trio Migos, alongside his nephew Takeoff and their friend Offset. Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset were raised together by Quavoโ€™s mother, Edna Marshall, in Gwinnett County, a suburban area northeast of Atlanta.

Formed in 2008, the trio was originally known as Polo Club before changing their name. They gained significant recognition with their 2013 hit single โ€œVersace,โ€ which was later remixed by Drake. Migos released four commercially successful studio albums before disbanding in 2023.

Quavo has featured on numerous hit singles by other artists, including Post Maloneโ€™s โ€œCongratulations,โ€ DJ Khaledโ€™s โ€œIโ€™m the One,โ€ and Justin Bieberโ€™s โ€œIntentions.โ€

He released his debut solo album,ย Quavo Huncho, in 2018, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. His second solo album,ย Rocket Powerย in 2023, was a tribute to Takeoff, who tragically passed away in 2022. Quavo witnessed the murder of his nephew Takeoff in Houston, Texas, on November 1, 2022.

Quavo continues to be an active and influential figure in the music industry, exploring solo work and collaborations while honoring the legacy of Migos and his late nephew.
