Radio legend Kidd Kraddick dead at age 53

UPDATE July 29th

Jefferson Parish Deputy Coroner Granville Morse has released preliminary autopsy reports on Monday afternoon (July 29th) claiming the famed radio jock had an enlarged heart and that three of his coronary arteries were found to have been 40 to 80% blocked.

Morse said that Kraddick collapsed on his tour bus and was rushed to the hospital where resuscitation attempts were made. Oschner West Bank Hospital emergency staff were unable to revive Kraddick.

Toxicology tests are still pending, but no other abnormalities were found nor were any signs of heart disease evident.

Morning radio personality Kidd Kraddick has passed away at the age of 53. Kraddick was the host of YEA Network’s syndicated Kidd Kraddick In The Morning from CCM+E Top 40 KHKS (106.1 FM) in Dallas, TX. The show is syndicated to hundreds of stations nationwide. Kraddick and his crew are also one of five morning radio programs featured on the syndicated celebrity gossip TV show Dish Nation.

In an announcement made late Saturday night (July 27th) on Kraddick’s Facebook page, Kraddick passed away in New Orleans at a charity golf tournament the long time radio personality had organized to raise money for his Kidd’s Kids charity.

“He died doing what he loved, and his final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children that meant the world to him,” the statement reads.

Clear Channel in Dallas released the following statement on their website:

“All of us at KISS-FM, ClearChannel Dallas, YEA Networks and the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning crew are heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend and leader.  Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years, his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children.”

The announcement continues to ask fans to respect the privacy of Kraddick’s family and colleagues. More information regarding the cause of death will be released at the appropriate time.
