The vinyl features ten timeless songs by the country legend
Warner Music Nashville and Rhino Records along with Randy Travis proudly announce the upcoming release of Now Playing – Randy Travis, a new vinyl collection featuring 10 of the country icon’s most beloved songs. This special release, part of Rhino’s Now Playing series, will be officially available on August 1st, bringing Travis’ timeless sound to both longtime fans and new listeners.
This new vinyl release spans the remarkable career of Randy Travis’ career, capturing the heart and soul of a voice that defined a generation of country music. From heartfelt ballads to honky-tonk staples, Now Playing – Randy Travis is a tribute to one of country music’s most enduring voices.
The set is the latest installment in the Now Playing series, a curated collection from Warner Music’s legendary artists, designed to bring great hits to music lovers at an accessible price point. Each release in the series includes ten essential tracks from iconic catalogs, pressed on vinyl and made available wherever vinyl records are sold.
The vinyl release comes in advance of the next leg of the More Life Tour, a salute to the music of Randy Travis, featuring his original band members, guest vocalist James Dupré and a unique touch, Randy and his wife, Mary, onstage the entire show interacting with Dupré, the band, and the audience – something Randy has missed since his 2013 stroke sidelined him from touring the world.
Almost 12 years ago, Travis suffered a debilitating stroke but he continues to release original music with the aid of new technologies. In 2024, Travis released “Where That Came From,” which marked the neo-traditionalist’s first charted song in two decades. The song made history as Travis authorized his longtime producer Kyle Lehning to use a revolutionary AI-powered voice model to release his first new music in over a decade. With the help of two amazing songwriters John Scott Sherrill and Scotty Emerick, Lehning, the musicians who helped make his songs so iconic for decades of recording and special guest vocalist James Dupré, provided a new musician credit “vocal bed” for the song.
Earlier this year, Travis released “Horses In Heaven.” The song, penned by Jon Randall and Matt Nolen, had quite the journey to Country Music Hall of Famer. It’s a perfect fit for the artist who has been horseback since he was a baby. Harold Traywick, Randy’s late father, was a renowned horse trainer in North Carolina and ensured that his children inherited his skills.
Travis, a seven-time Grammy winner, Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, and multi-platinum country artist, was recently recognized for his work championing fair compensation and protections for artists in the evolving digital age. In 2024, he testified on Capitol Hill in support of the American Music Fairness Act, which aims to ensure artists are fairly compensated when their songs air on AM/FM radio. He is also committed to promoting the ethical use of AI, ensuring it serves as a tool to empower and protect the creative integrity of artists.
Travis will be the subject of a biopic entitled Forever And Ever, Amen. Andrew Hyatt will direct off of his own script. Travis and his wife Mary Travis will executive produce, alongside country music star Clay Walker, who will portray Travis in his 40s and 50s. The film is currently in the casting stage with no production or release date announced, as of press time.
