The annual record store event takes place November 29th
The List of Record Store Day (RSD) Black Friday 2024 exclusive releases has been unveiled. Limited edition releases by Phil Collins, Cypress Hill, The Doors, U2, Grateful Dead, Garbage, Jimi Hendrix, Lamb of God, Duff McKagan, Joni Mitchell, Motley Crue, Stevie Nicks, OneRepublic, Pearl Jam, Bebe Rexha, Snoop Dogg, Stone Temple Pilots, Teddy Swims, Van Halen, and many others. These will be available on November 29th at participating indie music retailers.
Rhino will release Phil Collins’ Live From The Board… The Official Bootleg on vinyl for the first time. The project is an EP of recordings from the European leg of Collins’ Both Sides Tour in 1994. It includes big hits such as “Sussudio” and “Easy Lover.” The set is packaged in a special edition 10-inch EP for RSD Black Friday and limited to 3,000 units.
Cypress Hill will release Live at Rock im Park 1999 on CD and vinyl for the first time. The vinyl package includes an OBI side strip, gatefold album jacket, printed inner sleeve and special blue and white “smoke theme” color vinyl. The polycarbonate “vinyl look-a-like compact disc — The CD is blue on both sides. The front includes a groove vinyl design with a record label. The sound includes high-res remastering that will play in any CD player. The packaging includes a CD cardboard gatefold jacket, printed inner sleeve insert and an OBI side spine. Songs include “Insane In the Brain” and “How I Could Just Kill A Man,” among others. Both are limited to 2,000 units each.
The Doors’ performance from Cobo Arena, May 8, 1970, will be available on 4 LP vinyl for the first time via Rhino/Elektra Records. Captured during the band’s Roadhouse Blues Tour, it was one of their longer shows. The band played for an hour past curfew and was banned from the arena on future tours. The fiery set includes several Blues covers, including “I’m a King Bee,” Back Door Man,” Junior Parker’s “Mystery Train” and “Crossroads” by Robert Johnson. The Doors also tear through 17-minute-plus versions of “The End” and “When The Music’s Over” as well as an over-19-minute version of “Light My Fire” and other rare tracks such as “Love Hides” and “Dead Cats, Dead Rats.” This collection captures the band at an absolute zenith. The set is limited to 5,000 units.
BMG will release Garbage’s Copy/Paste on color vinyl in a gatefold package, featuring a previously unreleased track. The album is a musical journey, showcasing the band’s mastery of reinterpreting classic recordings and paying homage to luminaries such as David Bowie, Ramones, Patti Smith, U2, Big Star, The Jam, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Psychedelic Furs, The Velvet Underground, Tim Buckley and This Mortal Coil. The set, curated by the band, is limited to 3,200 copies.
Grateful Dead’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum, New Haven, CT 5/5/77 will be available as a limited edition 4 LP box set. The May 1977: Get Shown The Light vinyl saga comes to a close with the New Haven 5/5/77 opening night performance featuring “Sugaree,” “Scarlet > Fire,” “St. Stephen > Sugar Magnolia,” “Estimated Prophet,” And What Is Widely Considered One Of The Best Performances Of “Peggy-O.” The set is mastered By Jeffrey Norman from the original analog tapes, produced for release by David Lemieux. The RSD Exclusive Release is limited to 4,500 units.
Legacy Recordings will release Jimi Hendrix’s Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts on vinyl. The set highlights the historic debut concerts by Hendrix’s newly assembled Band of Gypsys (Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox, Buddy Miles) at New York’s Fillmore East on New Year’s Eve 1969 and New Year’s Day 1970. Measured alongside his triumphs at Monterey Pop and Woodstock, Hendrix’s legendary Fillmore East concerts illustrated a critical turning point in a radiant career filled with indefinite possibilities. Mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Bernie Grundman, these recordings were drawn from the 2019 boxset collection which presented each of the four legendary performances. This special RSD Black Friday edition will be available on blue and violet swirl vinyl and limited to 4,500 copies.
Jane’s Addiction will release Imminent Redemption, a two-track 12-inch on black vinyl. The inner sleeve has art and lyrics and a limited number of randomly distributed copies are autographed by one or more band members. The set is limited to 2,500 copies.
Motley Crue will release Dr. Feelgood (35th Anniversary 7″ Single Boxset) featuring all five of the album’s singles and their original b-side, remastered art and are presented on seven-inch colored vinyl. The RSD Exclusive Release is limited to 1,300 units.
Rhino/Atlantic Records will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Stone Temple Pilots’ Purple, with a breakout of the album rarities originally featured on the Super Deluxe Edition, available for the first time on vinyl. The RSD Exclusive Release set will be limited to 3,000 units.
Island/Interscope will release U2’s How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb, a collection of ten songs taken from the original recording sessions for How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, the band’s acclaimed, eight-time Grammy-winning album – recently rediscovered in the band’s archive and now released for the first time as a standalone album. This shadow album features new, previously unreleased songs including “Luckiest Man In The World,” “Happiness” and “Country Mile,” as well as newly remastered songs including “Picture of You (X + W)”, all collected together for the first time to mark the 20th anniversary of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. The RSD Exclusive Release will be available on a limited edition black and red vinyl, limited to 20,000 units.
Rhino will release a previously unreleased Van Halen live concert from December 4, 1991, in Dallas, TX. Captured during the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour, the show’s setlist mixes new songs (“Judgement Day” and “Poundcake”) with songs from 5150 and OU812 (“Best Of Both Worlds” and “Finish What Ya Started”). The band also played “Panama,” plus two of Hagar’s hits, “I Can’t Drive 55” and “There’s Only One Way To Rock.” The 2 LP set is an RSD Exclusive Release limited to 6000 units.
