Program will be held on April 1st in Las Vegas
The Recording Academy has unveiled the final list of all-star performers who will honor Joni Mitchell during its annual MusiCares Person of the Year benefit gala. Sara Bareilles, Jon Batiste, Beck, Black Pumas, Leon Bridges, Brandi Carlile, Lauren Daigle, Mickey Guyton, Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan, Angélique Kidjo, Cyndi Lauper, Pentatonix, Billy Porter, Allison Russell, Stephen Stills and St. Vincent are set to perform at the 31st annual MusiCares Person of the Year event Friday, April 1st. The evening will also feature a remote performance from Graham Nash. Batiste and Carlile will also serve as Artistic Directors for the night, a first for Person of the Year.
As previously announced, this year’s tribute will be held at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. The evening will include a reception and silent auction, followed by a dinner and tribute concert honoring Joni Mitchell’s impact on the music industry and the inspiration she has provided to artists over the years.
One of the most prestigious events held during GRAMMY Week, the Person of the Year tribute benefits MusiCares, the leading music charity providing music professionals health and human services across a spectrum of needs.
Music fans can also look forward to MusiCares: Music on a Mission Presented by Gibson, a virtual concert celebrating both the power of music and Joni Mitchell as the 2022 MusiCares Person of the Year honoree. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 30th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT, music fans everywhere will have the chance to sample a taste of GRAMMY Week with never-before-seen virtual performances. Tickets are available for $25 with all proceeds to be distributed to those in the music community in need.
This is the first time both the MusiCares Person of the Year event and the 64th GRAMMY Awards are being held outside of Los Angeles. Both were moved to Las Vegas after the festivities were postponed in January due to an uptick of COVID cases.
