Report: Gwen Stefani to replace Christina Aguilera on ‘The Voice’

Rumors indicate Stefani will replace a pregnant Aguilera on the show’s upcoming seventh season

No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani is reportedly in talks to replace a pregnant Christina Aguilera on NBC’s The Voice‘s upcoming seventh season which is set to start taping in June.

Aguilera confirmed in February that she was pregnant with her second child. TMZ reports that NBC wanted the pop superstar to stay for the seventh season, but she bowed out after having difficulties early on during the pregnancy. They also report that Stefani is only signing on for one season as of now.

Deadline reports that the No Doubt front woman has also been in talks to be a judge on the ABC signing competition, Rising Star, which premieres June 22nd. She has also been a mentor on Fox’s American Idol in the past.

If Stefani signs on, she will be one of two new judges to take a seat in the spinning big red chairs when the show’s seventh cycle premiers later this year. Pharrell Williams has signed on to take over a vacancy left by original judge CeeLo Green who confirmed in February that he was permanently leaving the series after its current run to focus on other endeavors.

Original judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, who have appeared on every cycle of the popular NBC reality series, are expected to return as well, although not confirmed. Neither NBC nor Mark Burnett Productions, which produces The Voice, have yet to confirm or release a statement regarding the season seven judges lineup. We will post the info when available.
