Gabby Barrett, Doja Cat and others are among the recipients

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has announced its Class of 2020 Gold & Platinum Award recipients. Every year, the organization recognizes artists who have achieved Gold & Platinum status for the very first time. For the inaugural Class, 53 artists from several different genres, including Gabby Barrett, Doja Cat, 24kGoldn, Ingrid Andress, are being recognized for obtaining the feat for the first time. The special recognition also acknowledges the work of the labels and teams behind each artist and demonstrates the essential value of record labels today.

“We are thrilled to induct 53 artists into RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Class of 2020. Earning your first Gold or Platinum Award is a sign of true success and limitless possibilities. Congratulations to this year’s artists, their labels and teams,” says Mitch Glazier, RIAA Chairman & CEO.

Four albums made the list for gold status, including Doja Cat’s Hot Pink, Pop Smoke’s Meet The Woo 2, Rod Wave’s Ghetto Gospel, and Tones and I’s The Kids Are Coming.

Twelve songs were recognized for their first Multi-Platinum Single Award, including Doja Cat’s “Say So” and “Juicy,” Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope,” 24kGoldn’s “Mood” featuring Iann Diorr, and Pop Smoke’s “Dior,” among others.

Twenty Platinum Single Awards were handed out, including 24kGoldn’s “Valentino,” Doja Cat’s “Like That” featuring Gucci Mane, Ingrid Andress’ “More Hearts Than Mine,” JP Saxe and Julia Michaels’ “If The World Was Ending,” and Pop Smoke’s “For The Night” featuring Lil Baby and DaBaby and “Mood Swings” featuring Lil Tjay.

Forty-eight songs were recognized for hitting gold status including Ashley McBryde’s “One Night Standards,” Chloe x Halle’s “Do It,” Doja Cat’s “Boss Bitch,” “Cyber Sex,” “Rules” and “Tia Tamera” featuring Rico Nasty, Gabby Barrett’s “The Good Ones,” Niko Moon’s “Good Time,” Travis Denning’s “After A Few,” and Tyla Yaweh’s “High Right Now” and “Tommy Lee.”
