The TIDAL exclusive comes to CD on July 7th

Jay-Z’s 13th studio album, 4:44, is officially certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), recognizing one million albums sold and/or streamed in the United States.

With the certification, Jay-Z has earned 13 Platinum (or higher) solo studio Album Awards in the United States – more than any other hip hop artist in the history of RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program. He is also the only hip hop artist with more than ten RIAA Platinum (or higher) studio albums. Jay-Z also has four additional Platinum Album Awards for collaborations with Kanye West, Linkin Park, and R. Kelly.

“Props to JAY, he’s done it again! Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career,” states RIAA Chairman and CEO Cary Sherman.

“Congrats to JAY-Z, 4:44 is Certified Platinum by the RIAA. JAY-Z has earned 13 Platinum solo studio Album awards, more than any other hip-hop artist in the history of the RIAA Gold & Platinum program,” Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s label, says in a statement.

4:44 was released on June 30th exclusively through the rapper’s TIDAL streaming service. It was the first in a series of exclusives being offered to the 45 million postpaid and prepaid Sprint customers and existing TIDAL members. The album will be released on CD on July 7th, but no word on when it will be made widely available digitally.
