Metallica’s tenth studio album, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, has been certified platinum for selling upwards of a million albums. The band was recently presented with their plaques by Blackened Recordings executives at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY.

The album was released on November 18th via the band’s own Blackened Recordings. Within ten days, it sold 800,000 copies and becoming No. 1 in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland and Sweden.

Hardwired…To Self Destruct was produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, and is available in various configurations including 2 CDDeluxe 3 CD2 LP and Deluxe 3 LP. By industry standards the standard 2 CD set would be considered a deluxe package. However, the band also released a special deluxe edition of the album featuring 3 CDs of Metallica music, amounting to 80-90% of Hardwired…To Self-Destruct‘s first week global sales – a true testament to the extraordinary relationship Metallica has with its fans.
