Rita Wilson shares ‘Pray for Peace’

Soaring new single available now

Rita Wilson has shared her soaring new single, “Pray For Peace.” Co-written by famed folk luminary Linda Thompson and GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter/producer Bernie Herms, the song conveys a powerful message of hope and unity particularly poignant this holiday season.

“Pray For Peace” features crystalline arrangements and crisp production. As the song slowly builds, Wilson’s warm vocals rise above acoustic and electric guitar and piano, as she sings of a brighter future, “Pray for time, let music play forever in a song that brings the world together, for our children can’t we please pray for peace.” An avid artist, Wilson painted the single cover art which reflects the song’s moving simplicity.

“There are certain values in life we desire – kindness, beauty, truth,” Wilson says of the track. “Compassion can go a long way in understanding someone or being heard. We want to connect. We seek that. This song can be a musical reminder of what unifies us more than separates us. Because at the end of the day, it’s love that wins.”

Although quarantine has been challenging, it has proven to be a highly prolific and creative period for Wilson. She has released a slew of notable new singles over the last several months including, “I Wanna Kiss Bob Dylan,” (she also painted its single cover art), “What I Would Say,” co-written by Wilson, and Grammy-nominated hitmakers Jesse Frasure and Shane McAnally; “Where’s My Country Song?” a timely tribute to women everywhere, especially those on the front lines, and the stirring ballad “Everybody Cries,” from the film The Outpost, co-written by Wilson, director Rod Lurie, and Larry Groupé.

Along with her own new material, Wilson has appeared on several high-profile collaborations. Most recently, she can be heard on “Pink” the inspirational new single featuring Wilson with an all-star line-up of Dolly Parton, Monica, Jordin Sparks and Sara Evans, benefiting Susan G. Komen, the world’s leading breast cancer organization. Over the summer Wilson was featured on Jimmie Allen’s, “When This Is Over” alongside the Oak Ridge Boys & Tauren Wells, and Alex Blue’s cover of the John Prine classic, “Angel From Montgomery.”

An accomplished singer/songwriter, Wilson is also celebrated for her work as an actress, producer, and philanthropist. In March of 2019 she received a Star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame in honor of her rich film career. With her first love being music, Wilson has four studio albums under her belt including her most recent Halfway to Home. Over the last several years, she has toured the world over performing on such iconic stages as the Grand Ole Opry, The Sydney Opera House and Walt Disney Concert Hall as well as coveted slots at music festivals including Stagecoach and CMA Fest among others.
