Rita Wilson teams with Vince Gill for ‘Count Your Blessings’

New holiday single available now

Rita Wilson has shared her new uplifting holiday single, “Count Your Blessings” with special guest country superstar, MCA Nashville recording artist Vince Gill. Produced by Wilson and GRAMMY-Award winning Matt Rollings (Willie Nelson, Alison Krause), “Count Your Blessings” arrives just in time to kick-off the official holiday season, and delivers a timely message of the importance of gratitude.

“Count Your Blessings” is the perfect soundtrack on the eve of Thanksgiving and leading into the holidays as a reminder to recognize life’s many rewards despite the recent challenges endured in the face of the pandemic. The meticulous arrangement featuring stark piano and lilting strings is beautifully paired with the intimate and moving vocals from Rita and Vince, who each deliver understated yet powerful performances. The song poignantly begins with Wilson singing, “Count your blessings one by one, when dawn appears and day has just begun. They will light your heart with happiness, make each hour bright and bring you gladness.”

“Every day really is a gift. As long as we are alive, each day offers hope,” Wilson says about the song. “Every person has endured some kind of hardship. That is a part of life. To be able to see and recognize the blessings that life also brings keeps me centered and grateful. I can tell you I’m extremely thankful for the great Vince Gill whose voice transports me to a place that is physical and spiritual. What an honor to sing with Vince who has been a supporter of my music since he sang on my first album AM/FM.”

“When Rita started making her own records, I was lucky enough to be invited to participate,” Gill adds. “She’s always kept me in the loop, and I’m always grateful to make a great friend. I really enjoy singing with her.”

In a continued prolific period, Wilson also just released, “Because Love,” her song featured in the new film, Love Is Love Is Love, in which Wilson also stars. Available on VOD on December 14th, Love Is Love Is Love, was directed and co-written by the award-winning director Eleanor Coppola (Paris Can Wait, Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse) and also stars Joanne Whalley, Chris Messina, Kathy Baker, Marshall Bell, Maya Kazan, Cybill Shepherd and Rosanna Arquette. The film tells three stories that explore love, commitment, and loyalty between couples and friends. “Because Love” was written by Wilson and Laura Karpman, and produced by Wilson and Darrell Brown (LeAnn Rimes).

Fresh off a performance at the star-studded Tortuga Music Festival in Florida alongside Luke Bryan, Wilson is also slated to appear at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles on December 6th in her Liner Notes show, presented by The Songwriters Hall of Fame as part of their Chart Toppers events. Wilson will be joined by Mozella, Sean Douglas and Billy Steinberg in an intimate performance and discussion about songs and songwriting. Rita Wilson’s Liner Notes spotlights stories behind the songs we know and love. In this latest edition Rita will welcome guest panelists and hit writers who have created many enduring classics and contemporary hits that have defined generations, music and culture, and whose songs have topped the charts across all platforms around the world.
