The British actor’s family has announced his death
Sir Roger Moore, the actor who rose to fame portraying James Bond as 007, has died at the age of 89. The actor passed away following a bout with cancer. The family released the news via Moore’s official Twitter account on Tuesday (May 23rd).
“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that our loving father, Sir Roger Moore, has passed away today in Switzerland after a short but brave battle with cancer,” they state. “The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantifed in words alone.”

Moore starred as Bond in seven 007 films between 1973 and 1985. He was the fourth actor to portray Bond behind Sean Connery, David Niven and George Lazenby. Other roles include acting in Hallmark Hall of Fame’s TV production of Julius Caesar and the British TV series, The Saint.
