Billboard has announced that Roger Waters, co-founder and principal songwriter of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Pink Floyd and one of the most influential touring and recording artists of all time with worldwide sales of 200 million, will be the Keynote Q&A at the 10th Annual Billboard Touring Conference in New York, set for November 13-14 at The Roosevelt Hotel.
Waters is currently wrapping up the final European leg of his groundbreaking tour of The Wall Live, a conceptual rock ‘n’ roll masterpiece that is one of the most successful and critically-acclaimed tours in history.
“His impact on music and the live experience is undeniable, but his interests and opinions transcend the music industry.”
Throughout his career, Waters is known for engaging fans and pushing the aural and visual boundaries of the live experience, and The Wall Live, which captured Top Tour honors at the 2012 Billboard Touring Awards, is no exception. Waters was a finalist in four categories at last year’s awards –Top Tour, Top Draw, Top Boxscore and Top Manager- winning Top Tour and Top Manager with Mark Fenwick.
“Roger Waters is one of the most compelling subjects I’ve ever interviewed, and I am thrilled that he will be our Keynote Q&A at the conference,” says Ray Waddell, Billboard’s executive director of content and programming, touring and live entertainment, who will conduct the interview with Waters. “His impact on music and the live experience is undeniable, but his interests and opinions transcend the music industry. This is guaranteed to be a fascinating session.”
2013 marks the tenth anniversary of Billboard’s Touring Conference & Awards, taking place on November 13-14. The two-day event features unique programming that informs, educates and provides a forum for all touring related businesses about the industry’s latest opportunities and current challenges. It culminates in The Billboard Touring Awards, which honors the industry’s top artists, venues, and professionals and recognizes true box office success based primarily on achievements on the Billboard Boxscore chart between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013.
