The pair reunite for Dunn’s new single, but not permenantly

Ronnie Dunn’s new single, “Damn Drunk,” features background vocals by his old singing partner Kix Brooks, but Dunn says people shouldn’t get any ideas.

“Well, obviously I guess everyone is going to think now that we have a Ronnie Dunn single featuring Kix Brooks, that there’s an imminent Brooks and Dunn reunion coming,” he says. “Not the case. We are very comfortable with what we’re doing at Caesars right now.”

Dunn says for now they’re enjoying their part-time gig at Caesars Palace with Reba McEntire, which in some ways, is the gig they worked their whole careers to get.

“We kid amongst ourselves and say that for 20 years, we rode around on buses up and down the highways, and you know, drug a crew of almost 40-50 guys around just to get to a gig like Caesars,” he explains. “We’re really happy with where we are. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to have a record deal with Big Machine and be doing what we’re doing right now. Kix is doing great with his radio show. He enjoys doing the recording process too. So we’re in a good place.”

For now, it’s just Ronnie Dunn with Kix Brooks on backing vocals. As for the future, Dunn says, “I’ve learned one thing: never to commit to absolutes. As I just said never.”

Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together In Vegas continues its multi-year residency on November 30th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Dates are currently scheduled through March 2017. Tickets can be purchased at axs.com.
