Sammy Hagar announces first-ever Birthday Bash PPV

Birthday Bash will have a limited audience

Sammy Hagar is forging ahead with his annual Birthday Bash, and is giving fans a chance to see it for the first time as a pay-per-view event. The star-studded party is typically held at Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico but will now shift to Catalina Island, CA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have been trying to make the birthday bash available to anyone and everyone for over 20 years,” Hagar shares. “The way I see this unbelievable gift under the dark cloud of COVID-19 is, we all had to roll up our sleeves, put on our thinking caps and this beautiful wonderful exotic island sitting right in front of our faces gave us the thumbs up. It’s going to be hard to beat the parties we’ve thrown for nearly 30 years in Cabo, but I have a good feeling about this birthday bash. Come join the party – for the first time we all get to be there. It’s coming via PPV from the beach to your house! Are we having any fun yet?”

The celebration will feature Hagar and his band The Circle — featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ Hagar and Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vick Johnson — with an assortment of surprise guests. The event will be filmed on Thursday, October 8th, but no in-person viewing will be allowed on land.

“The entire surrounding area will be social distanced and enforced by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department. The only way it can be viewed in person is to be on a boat,” reads an official statement.

The Birthday Bash will stream on Saturday, October 17th at 9 pm ET via nugs.tv. It will be available in HD and 4K, costing $24.99 and $49.99, respectively. Pre-sales start Tuesday, October 6th.

Earlier this month, Hagar performed his first show since the pandemic began for LOPen Charity Events and the Mawaka Foundation’s “Rockin Fore the Kids” charity event outside of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Full social distancing guidelines were enforced.

Hagar and The Circle have been performing remotely during the coronavirus lockdown and releasing the sessions digitally. The Circle @ Home Sessions features covers of Van Halen, AC/DC, Bill Withers and others.
