New double single available now
Scooter Brown Band honors one of their heroes and biggest influences, outlaw legend Waylon Jennings, with their new double single release. Starting with their original, written by frontman Scooter Brown and Rick Huckaby, “Something Waylon Would Sing,” the well-known band brings back that original outlaw feel perfected by Jennings himself. Then the band covers Jennings’ hit “Don’t You Think This Outlaw Bit’s Done Got Out Of Hand.” Both songs are available at all DSPs now.
The band was fortunate enough to have some special guests on the record as well. Shannon Wickline, from The Charlie Daniels Band, hammers out B3 organ and keys, while Steve Hinson, Nashville session great and longtime member of Randy Travis’ band, adds his iconic steel guitar skills. Both Travis and the late Daniels have been a huge part of the Scooter Brown Band story, each supporting the band’s growth. SBB was slated to be the opener this year on the Fire on the Mountain Tour with the CDB and Marshall Tucker Band.
“Waylon Jennings has been a musical hero of mine since I can remember. I loved writing this song and watching it come alive. I’m excited to let the world hear it,” says Scooter Brown.
Brown chose Veterans Day to release the double single for a special reason. Veterans Day holds a special meaning to him and the rest of the band as two of its members have served. Brown, a Marine Veteran, and drummer Matt Bledsoe, an Army Veteran, both deserve special recognition on this day.
During this unprecedented year, Brown has been busy writing new music, gearing up for an exciting 2021 filled with new music.
After four years and three months, two tours overseas with one tour of combat in Iraq as a United States Marine, Scooter Brown traded his guns in for guitars and hit the road. Scooter Brown Band was formed and began playing mainly in and around Houston, Texas. They have toured North America and opened for some of their biggest influences including Charlie Daniels Band, Travis Tritt, Dwight Yoakam, Lee Roy Parnell and the Marshall Tucker Band, just to name a few.
With two of the members having served in the military, they dedicate significant time doing work for Veteran Support Organizations like Base Camp 40 – Warriors in the Wild, Lone Survivor Foundation, and the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.
For the last few years the band has been building a new era in their career. Defined as modern southern rock, the band released American Son in late 2017 and was named by Artists to Watch by Rolling Stone. Spotify supported the title track of the album on playlists including “Country Rocks,” “Southern Rock 101” and “Texas Music Now.”
Brown was featured as a finalist on USA Network’s Real Country in 2018 and was awarded Male Vocalist of the Year at the Third Annual Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards presented by iHeartRadio. In July 2019 they made their debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage, introduced by fellow road warrior, Opry-member Charlie Daniels. The band has continued a rigorous touring schedule while writing with some of the biggest songwriters in Nashville.
