Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco release exclusive short film

I Said I Loved You First is named after their joint album

Vevo announces the release of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s short film, named after their album I Said I Love You First, as part of Vevoโ€™s performance series, Extended Play. I Said I Love You First is out now via SMG Music/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope Records. Gomez and Blanco’s short film features their Vevo Extended Play performances of โ€œSunset Blvd,โ€ โ€œHow Does It Feel To Be Forgottenโ€ and โ€œScared Of Loving You,โ€ as well as an interview exploring their creative process, communication style, and journey as a couple.

Vevo Extended Play is a multi-song performance capture shot in existing locations that realize the vision of an artistโ€™s project. The series begins in an anchor space and steadily works through different locations, showing viewers the evolution of the music through creative workflow. Through artistsโ€™ close collaboration with Vevoโ€™s team, Extended Play marries the art of songwriting with breathtaking visual settings for a series of bespoke performances.

Filmed at the couple’s home in Los Angeles, โ€œSunset Blvd,โ€ โ€œHow Does It Feel To Be Forgottenโ€ and โ€œScared of Loving Youโ€ sees the couple in the same rooms where the song was recorded. Minimalist and intimate, they deliver must-watch, stripped-back versions of their songs for a true full-circle moment, inviting viewers into the coupleโ€™s inner world.

In their kitchen, the couple delves into the positives of working with someone that you love. โ€œItโ€™s so easy for us to work together on a project because we speak the same language both in music and personally,โ€ Blanco explains. โ€œThe easiest thing about this process is being able to know that once Iโ€™ve completed a song (well not really completed, because itโ€™s never really complete) that your notes are always extremely generous and never dismissive of the qualities I do have, you know?โ€

Gomez adds, โ€œRather than saying I want you to sound like something that I simply canโ€™t sound like, youโ€™re really good at making sure that it sounds authentic.โ€

The pair recently released a deluxe version of the album featuring four new original songs. The updated set includes the long-awaited release of the fan favorite โ€œStained,โ€ a new remix of โ€œBluest Flame,โ€ โ€œCowboyโ€ with GloRilla and โ€œGuess You Can Say Iโ€™m In Loveโ€ with vocals and production from Greg Gonzalez of Cigarettes After Sex. An acoustic version of โ€œCall Me When You Break Upโ€ with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams and a live version of โ€œHow Does It Feel To Be Forgottenโ€ round out the track listing.
