Basketball player and rapper launches summer tour

Shaquille O’Neal is set to headline some of the biggest festivals and night clubs around the world this summer as DJ Diesel. Shaq recently sat down with SiriusXM’s Swaggy Sie to discuss his Governors Ball performance from last month. During their conversation, O’Neal revealed he’s donating proceeds from his upcoming gig in Buffalo, NY, to the families of the 10 victims who died in the mass shooting there last month.

“My next show is in Buffalo,” he says. “I’m going to donate my proceeds to some of the family members that had a tragic loss.”

“If I see where there’s a need, I take care of it,” O’Neal adds on his frequent efforts to help.

“I never know what I’m going to play until I look at the crowd,” Shaq tells SiriusXM’s Swaggy Sie of his performance ritual. “The guy that goes on before me, I’m seeing what he’s doing and if the crowd is engaged. If you play a hit, you already know they’re going to like that.”

The Buffalo performance is Friday, June 24th at Buffalo Riverworks and will feature Shaq’s Bass All Stars.

“USA, Canada, Spain, Croatia, Belgium and Au**** (😉) – THE DIESEL IS ON HIS WAY! Get ready for the Summer of SHAQ like never before,” Shaq says in his social media announcement of the 30 date trek. “We are dominating some of the biggest stages in the world including Tomorrowland, Bass Canyon and Electric Zoo, taking Shaq’s Bass All Stars to a whole new level at the Hollywood Palladium and San Jose Civic Center and then wrapping it all up with a headlining gig at Red Rocks. See y’all soooon! I can’t wait.”

The performances include a residency at the Encore Beach Club at Night in Las Vegas.

In the conversation, which can be viewed below per SiriusXM’s Gov Ball Radio, Shaq also compares his NBA career to performing as DJ Diesel.
