SiriusXM remembers Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh

SiriusXM’s Grateful Dead Channel will pay tribute to Lesh with special programming

SiriusXM will pay homage to the late Grateful Dead co-founder and bassist Phil Lesh, who passed away earlier today (Fri, Oct 25th) at the age of 84.

David Gans, Gary Lambert, and Big Steve Parish will pay tribute to Lesh and take phone calls on the Grateful Dead Channel, channel 23 in cars and the SXM app. Fans can also hear a special presentation of Lesh’s 84th birthday concert from earlier this year at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.

“Phil Lesh, bassist and founding member of The Grateful Dead, passed peacefully this morning,” according to a post on his official Instagram account. “He was surrounded by his family and full of love. Phil brought immense joy to everyone around him and leaves behind a legacy of music and love. We request that you respect the Lesh family’s privacy at this time.”

On SiriusXM’s Grateful Dead Channel, fans can hear music spanning the band’s career with unreleased concert recordings, original shows hosted by band members, and even rare archival interviews with Jerry Garcia. The channel also features contributions from Grateful Dead experts David Gans and Gary Lambert and Dead archivist David Lemieux.
