Small Town Spotlight – Tim Elder

Brittany Vance highlights unsigned talent

Southern Maryland native and HVAC mechanic Tim Elder has a massive passion for music. Although he didn’t grow up on country music, after hearing Jason Aldean’s “Amarillo Sky” on the radio one day, he decided that is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

Elder took guitar lessons from Mike Stacey, a member of the Sam Grow band. He also took voice lessons from Gene Quade, another member of the Sam Grow band. A classic rock and blues lover turned country, Elder plays for the love not for the money.

“I love performing benefits and to be able to share the joy I get from it and see others enjoy the music I play gives me a really great feeling deep down,” says Elder.

Elder performs mostly newer country songs by various artists such as Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Tyler Farr. He performs acoustic sets around southern Maryland. Although he wants to continue to work on his vocal range, there isn’t anyone who has his heart. He truly loves performing and has a huge amount of passion for his work.
